The Paintings of Salvador Dali
Salvador Dali did not only have hundreds of paintings; he also had a lot of artwork dedicated to the different fields. These fields included literature, sculpture, illustration/graphic arts and screenplays.
Dali was commissioned by Edward James to make Lobster Telephone and Mae West Lips Sofa. Edward James was a very rich man. Dali loved symbolisms and he used lobster as a food to symbolize sex. The telephone actually worked and was used by James in his home. Dali was also a fan of Mae West and was said to be fascinated by her. Mae West Lips Sofa is just one of several artworks inspired by the actress.
Dali also worked with a total of 39 intricate jewels. The most famous is The Royal Heart. He worked on the scenery and set designs for three theatrical plays.
His more famous collaborations were with Buñuel for Un Chien Andalou and L’Age d’Or and with Walt Disney for Destino. Spellbound was done with Alfred Hitchcock, as well as Chaos and Creation.
